In The present review provides an in-depth analysis of the medicinal properties of Costus igneus, also known as Insulin plant,and its phytochemical constituents. The review focuses on the pharmacological activities of the plants flavonoids, alkaloids,terpenoids, and polyphenols, which include antioxidant, hypoglycemic, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects. Furthermore, the traditional uses of Costus igneus in different parts of the world are discussed, with particular emphasis on its potential in managing diabetes mellitus, respiratory illnesses, digestive disorders, and skin diseases. The authors critically evaluate the available literature on the topic and identify areas for future research and development of Costus igneus as a therapeutic agent.
